+ Do you take insurance? How do I get reimbursed?

I'm currently out of network but if you have an insurance plan with out of network benefits, you are able to submit your therapy invoices to be reimbursed. I will provide you with monthly superbills so that you can submit these for reimbursement.

+ How do I find out if my insurance plan has out of network benefits and will reimburse me for therapy?

Here is a script that you can use when you call your insurance:

  1. Provide them with my full name (Laura Lee) and credentials (LCSW) to confirm they will provide out of network coverage for psychotherapy sessions. For reference, the billing code would generally be 90834 (the first session only is 90791).
  2. What is my deductible? And how much per session can be put towards meeting the deductible?
  3. What percent or amount of each session fee do you cover after the deductible has been met?

+ What's your fee?

Individual therapy is $200/session and couples counseling $275/session. I offer a limited number of spaces for sliding scale, which means we will agree on a rate that works for you.

+ Do you ever meet by phone or online?

Yes! I offer video sessions for individual, couples, and coaching.

+ How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?

Finding the right fit with your therapist is important and it really comes down to what your gut is telling you. Before you meet with a therapist, it would be helpful to have a clear idea of what kind of therapist you're looking for i.e. someone who's a good listener, kind, and has experience in the problem you're trying to address. I highly encourage you to book a free 10 minute consultation to explore how we vibe and jive together :).

+ What kind of therapy do you do?

My style is interactive, exploratory, and action driven. Since my training background is in couples and family therapy, my style derives from relational therapy--which means I focus on our relationship together and your relationships with others. I like to explore identity and family history to get an understanding of how your experiences have influenced your sense of self. I also use coaching and solution focused techniques to help you create a plan for action (when appropriate) and stay goal-oriented.

+ What can I do to prepare for my therapy sessions?

To get the most out of your sessions, it’s best to have a solid understanding of why you’re seeking therapy. Having a clear picture of what you would like to accomplish or unpack in therapy helps establish a good framework to build from. I invite you to be an active participant! Before each session, take note of things you would like to talk about in your session. For example: things that have worked well for you, challenges you faced, memories that resurface, thoughts or feelings you want to process, etc. As your therapist, I will ask you questions that will deepen our discussion and work with you to uncover beliefs, behaviors, patterns, and thought processes that you may or may not have noticed before. I also will occasionally give homework assignments for you to complete during the week to help focus your attention and raise your awareness between sessions.

+ What if my partner doesn't want to come to therapy?

Therapy works best when everyone is engaged and motivated to go to therapy. Therapy can be an uncomfortable and vulnerable process to some people and it's understandable that your partner is hesitant to start. I would encourage you and your partner to book a free 10 minute consultation. A consultation will give you the opportunity to get a feel for what therapy would be like with me and see if it reduces any worries around starting therapy.
